A cultural spectacle on Day 5 highlights the variety of Nagaland

Nagaland’s rich tribal heritage was vividly displayed on the fifth day of the 25th Hornbill Festival 2024’s cultural extravaganza at the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama. Sikkim, this year’s festival’s State Partner, was also honored during the ceremony. The “Integration Dance,” which the Sikkim group performed, represented harmony, peace, and respect for the powerful Kanchenjunga, the esteemed protector of their homeland. Housing and Mechanical Engineering Minister P. Bashangmongba Chang chaired the morning session, while Fire & Emergency Services Advisor S. Kiusumew Yimchunger and NIDC Chairman Kvulo Lorin co-hosted. The Sumi cultural troupe’s performances of Aphilo Kuwo (warrior dance), Sangtam: Jümürü Mütsahba Sapan (soap manufacturing), and Pochury: Hohidoh Hohidoh (folk song) were among the event’s highlights.

Lotha cultural troupe performed Ole-hoo (Action Song), Phom: Chingtempe (Stilt Walking), Konyak: Kham Shupu Hie Kham Kongpu/Moolao (Log drum pulling & beating), Kachari: Habling Dangbani (Folk Song), Yimkhiung: Wochak Khüntong (cultivation song), Zeliang: commemorative performance, Tikhir: Pow Pokkhin (folk song), Garo: Rong Dea (stone lifting), Kuki: Zou-Lie Kon (folk dance). Angami cultural troupe delivered the commemorative performance, Ao: Traditional tiger hunting reenactment, Khiamniungan: Hang Tui (friendship dance), Chakhesang: Chüsü Hoo (folk song), Chang: Chishok Lamshok (dance & song of peace treaty) and Rengma: A-ccu Kekawa (indigenous game).
