A fresh examination of the “Rust” pistol indicates Alec Baldwin had to pull the trigger

A fresh examination of the “Rust” pistol indicates Alec Baldwin had to pull the trigger.Baldwin has maintained that he did not pull the trigger and that he had moved the hammer back and let it go immediately before the pistol discharged since the shooting death of the cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, in October 2021. It found out that the pistol was loaded with a live round instead of the fake rounds—inert cartridges meant to make it look loaded on video.

Baldwin was charged in January with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the crime, as prosecutors have expressed skepticism towards his assertion that he did not fire the gun. In April, a new group of prosecutors dropped the accusations against him, citing fresh data that revealed Baldwin’s practice gun may have been altered, possibly simplifying an accidental fire.In the report, which was made available through a public records request, Haag stated, “Even though Alec Baldwin has repeatedly denied pulling the trigger, given the tests, findings, and observations reported here, the trigger had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver.”The results are consistent with a previous FBI investigation.

Reviving the charges against Baldwin is still up for debate, but Kari Morrissey, one of the prosecutors now working on the case, stated on Wednesday that “minimal additional testing of the gun may be warranted.”Requests for comment from Baldwin’s attorney, Luke Nikas, were not immediately answered.
