BJP to resolve ENPO issue, assures Jacob Zhimomi

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and Cooperation Minister Jacob Zhimomi has reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to addressing the long-standing demands of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO). Speaking at the launch of the BJP’s membership drive at Old Town Committee Hall, Marwari Patti, on Tuesday, Zhimomi emphasized that under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the party is dedicated to finding a resolution.

Zhimomi responded to media queries about the absence of ENPO issues in the recent Nagaland Legislative Assembly session, stating that the state government is actively engaged in consultations with Eastern region organizations. “The urgency of resolving the ENPO demands is recognized, and we are hopeful for a swift resolution,” he assured.

The membership drive was launched by Zhimomi and BJP’s advisor for Tribal Affairs and Elections H Tovihoto Ayemi, with state president Benjamin Yepthomi and party office bearers in attendance.

Addressing concerns over the rising number of graduates joining underground factions, Zhimomi acknowledged that unemployment is a nationwide issue. He highlighted central government initiatives like Start-Up India and Skill India aimed at addressing this challenge and encouraged youth to leverage these opportunities. “Our state does not have extensive resources, but we are focused on merit-based employment,” he added.

Regarding illegal immigration in Dimapur, Zhimomi stated that the state government is actively managing the situation with necessary directives and measures at entry and exit points.

The BJP’s membership drive, set to cover all 60 assembly constituencies, was described as a significant endeavor. Zhimomi expressed confidence in achieving positive results, while Yepthomi underscored that the ENPO issue would be resolved under the BJP’s leadership. He also highlighted the central government’s efforts in youth development and employment, urging young people to explore available opportunities.
