Blockade Relaxed On Kohima-Jessami Road

The aggrieved landowners affected by the Kohima-Jessami 2-lane road project have announced a temporary relaxation of the total blockade on National Highway-29.

In a press release, convenor of the landowners, stated that the decision was made following the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Phek, along with the CPO and CMA. As a goodwill gesture towards the public, the landowners have permitted movement along the affected stretch.

However, they clarified that all construction activities involving the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) will remain suspended until the ongoing compensation dispute is resolved.

The landowners emphasized the importance of addressing the pending compensation issues before allowing the project to proceed.

Chuzho noted that the relaxation of the blockade reflects their commitment to peaceful protest and concern for community welfare.

They also expressed gratitude to DC Phek for facilitating dialogue and urged all stakeholders to work constructively toward a fair resolution.
