On December 12, Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Tourism and Higher Education, officially opened the highly anticipated Dimapur Night Carnival (DNC) 2024 at the Dimapur District Sports Council (DDSC) Complex. The event will continue till December 16 and is co-organized by the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), and the district government of Dimapur. Speaking to the crowd, Along praised the Dimapur residents, the district government, and the police for their crucial contributions to the Hornbill Festival 2024’s success.
The minister also praised the DMC’s efforts to protect the health and welfare of Dimapur’s citizens and wished for wise leadership from the elected councilors. Additionally, he expressed concern about antisocial individuals abusing the city under false pretenses, which he claimed were damaging the business climate in Dimapur and taking possibilities away from the city to nearby areas. He urged the DMC, police, and district administration to take firm action against anti-social acts, emphasizing that protecting Dimapur’s economic climate was essential to Nagaland’s development.
Along congratulated the organizers and asked participants to engage in responsible behavior, expressing the hope that the carnival would stimulate thriving business activity. Matsung Ozukum presided over the program, Pastor Kenei Kiso offered an invocation, and Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, the deputy commissioner and chairman of the Dimapur Night Carnival, gave a welcome speech. Temjenchuba Ozukum and Ying P gave special performances. Five days of cultural excitement, business activity, and community building are all promised during the Dimapur Night Carnival.
