In response to the recent flooding, the East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has raised serious concerns over the encroachment of the Sugar Mill nalla, which has affected areas like the Airport Area, Padumpukhuri, Purana Bazar, and Purana Bazar B.
In a press release, EDTC stated that unregulated drainage has led to repeated waterlogging, endangering public safety, damaging property, and disrupting daily life. It highlighted that the encroachment between Purana Bazar B and Purana Bazar has obstructed the natural flow of water, resulting in the flooding of roads, homes, and farmland.
This has created health risks and increased property damage. EDTC has called on the authorities to take urgent action to remove the encroachments and restore the drainage system to prevent further damage and ensure the safety and well-being of local residents.
