Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), in collaboration with the Department of Electronics, IT & BT, Government of Karnataka, has launched the 26th edition of its TCS Rural IT Quiz, designed to engage students from smaller towns and districts across India. Recognized by the Limca Book of Records as India’s first IT quiz for rural students, the initiative has reached over 21.5 million participants since 2000, making technology more accessible to youth beyond city limits.
The 2025 edition, part of Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025, is open to students from Classes 8 to 12, excluding schools within city corporation areas. The quiz will feature online tests, virtual rounds, and physical competitions, covering IT applications in sectors such as banking, education, entertainment, AI, cloud computing, robotics, gaming, and social media. Eight regional finals will determine participants for the National Finals in Bengaluru in November. Regional winners and runners-up receive gift vouchers of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000, while the national winner and runner-up earn TCS education scholarships of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000, respectively. Registrations are open until September 30 at https://iur.ls/tcsruralitquiz2025reg
Schools in smaller towns surrounding the district are expected to show strong participation, reflecting growing consumer interest in IT education and digital literacy programs. Educators anticipate that such initiatives will not only build students’ technology skills but also create awareness about emerging career opportunities in the digital economy. The TCS Rural IT Quiz continues to empower students, bridging the digital divide and making technology more consumer-friendly for rural India.
