HHTDN requisition geological survey to preserve NH-10

Siliguri, July 02: Himalayan Hospitality and Tourism Development Network (HHTDN) is advocating geological survey for the safety of National Highway 10 (NH-10) connecting Bengal and Sikkim. During a press conference at Siliguri Journalist Club on Tuesday, HHTDN members stressed the need for expert analysis of the hilly terrain along NH-10.

The organization highlighted that since the recent disaster in Sikkim, the course of the Teesta River has changed significantly, causing frequent damage to the highway. The disruption has severely affected not only the tourism industry but also the overall connectivity between Bengal and Sikkim.

To address these issues, HHTDN is seeking a comprehensive survey of the affected area by geological experts. The organization has already begun efforts to raise awareness about the issue and plans to inform prominent political figures including the Chief Minister of West Bengal, the Prime Minister of India and the Chief Minister of Sikkim. Additionally, they intend to convey their concerns to all relevant departments to ensure a coordinated response.
