Hinduja College’s expansion signals growth in India’s education economy

The education sector in India is witnessing a significant transformation with Hinduja College of Commerce advancing towards deemed university status. At its 75th-anniversary celebration, Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, emphasized the need for corporate investment in specialized education, highlighting its role in economic equality and national development.

Ashok Hinduja, Chairman, Hinduja Foundation, announced major infrastructure expansion, including a state-of-the-art facility by 2028 and the introduction of AI, Data Science, Climate Finance, and Export-Import Management programs. The foundation, currently supporting 700,000 students, aims to empower 1 million by 2030, aligning with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

With NAAC A+ accreditation and autonomous status under NEP 2020, Hinduja College’s expansion underscores India’s shift towards skill-based education, creating long-term economic and workforce benefits. The event also saw Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan in attendance, with the Vice President felicitating top students.
