In Mokokchung, Wokha, Dimapur, people celebrated World Ozone Day

Mokokchung Forest Division, Wokha Forest Division and Dimapur Forest Division observed World Ozone Day on September 13 and 14. On September 13, Mokokchung Forest Division celebrated World Ozone Day at Forest Office, Marepkong, alongside teachers and students from Government Middle School Marepkong, with the subject “Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action.” According to a press release from DFO Mokokchung, Fr-I Tiatemsula Imchen focused on preserving Earth from ultraviolet rays and the factors that contribute to the ozone layer’s depletion in the stratosphere of the Earth.

As primary measures to combat ozone layer depletion, she promoted restricted car usage, pesticides, reuse and recycle, renewable energy sources, and more attention to tree planting. Additionally, the students were urged to actively and consciously take responsibility for environmental protection and make unique contributions to this shared objective. An event was held at Government Middle School Wokha Town-C to honor “World Ozone Day” by the Wokha Forest Division under the Nagar Van Yojana. The purpose of the event was to educate the one hundred attendees, who included instructors, staff members from Wokha DMU and the Wokha Forest Division, and children in Classes 5-8, about the significance of protecting the ozone layer and the factors that contribute to its depletion.

According to a news release from Range Forest officer Wokha, Grace Kikon, the program was welcomed by primary teacher K Nzanmongi Jami and presided by community mobilizer Tumben Odyuo. In his educational talk on the causes of ozone depletion, Rajiv Shankar, ACF, Wokha Division, emphasized the significance of taking action as a group to preserve the ozone layer. The subject of IFS, DFO Beizo Suokhrie’s lecture was “Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action,” which highlighted the vital role that the Protocol plays in preserving the ozone layer and promoting global climate action programs. FR Bendangtemsu emphasized the function and significance of the ozone layer. FR Temsulong presided the program, and FR Shilumayang, Chairman of Forest Colony Dimapur, gave the vote of gratitude.
