Inauguration of the friendship Tsirang multisports hall project between India and Bhutan

The Indian Embassy in Thimphu announced on social media that the Tsirang Multi-Sports Hall, an India-Bhutan friendship project, was inaugurated. The tweet highlighted the immense benefits the new indoor sports complex will provide to the local population. Today marked the opening of the Tsirang Multi-Sports Hall, a goodwill initiative between India and Bhutan! a brand-new indoor sports facility for the neighborhood. We are honored to collaborate with the Royal Government of Bhutan on the construction of sporting facilities around the nation,” the Indian Embassy in Bhutan wrote on X.

As the second batch of High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) for the 13th Five Year Plan (FYP) period, India and Bhutan examined and approved 297 projects totaling Nu. 4.06 billion (Rs 406 crore) on Thursday. The decision was made at the second meeting of the India-Bhutan HICDP Committee, which was attended by officials from both nations in Thimphu.

Pema Tshomo, Director, Bilateral Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, led the Bhutanese delegation at the meeting, while Aniket G. Mandavgane, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India in Thimphu, led the Indian delegation. India has committed Nu. 100 billion to Bhutan for the 13th Five Year Plan period, with Nu. 10 billion earmarked for HICDPs. The Embassy of India in Bhutan approved a revision of 275 projects totaling Nu. 4.40 billion, aiming to enhance accessibility, economic opportunities, livelihoods, job opportunities, and food security for local communities. The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere.
