In a glittering ceremony filled with glamour and celebration, 19-year-old Kelulu Dawhuo from the Chakhesang tribe was crowned Miss Universe Nagaland 2025 on June 10 at the RCEMPA auditorium in Jotsoma, near Kohima. Her crowning moment was met with loud cheers from the audience, marking a proud moment for the state. Organised by the Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland (BASN), the prestigious event witnessed participation from 14 talented young women vying for the crown. The evening was a grand showcase of beauty, intellect, culture, and confidence. Kelulu, a student of St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, pursuing her Bachelor of Arts, stood out with her poise, eloquence, and presence, eventually clinching the top title after rounds of competition.
Kelulu is no stranger to the pageant world—she previously held the Miss Kohima 2024 title and was the second runner-up at Miss Nagaland 2024. Her continued success reflects her dedication and passion for representing her community and state on larger platforms. With this new crown, she now moves on to represent Nagaland at the Miss Universe India 2025 pageant, scheduled to take place later this year. Her journey to the national stage is being hailed as an inspiration to young aspirants across the state. The first runner-up title was awarded to Anon Konyak A, the reigning Miss Nagaland 2024, while newcomer Teilih Konyak secured the second runner-up position. The panel of judges featured distinguished personalities including Rhea Singha, Miss Universe India 2024, and Amjad Khan, Director of Franchise Operations, Miss Universe India, adding credibility and stature to the event.
The evening was further graced by the presence of Ruopfuzano Whiso, the outgoing Miss Universe Nagaland 2024, who also ranked among the top five finalists at Miss Universe India 2024. Her appearance was an emotional highlight of the show, as she passed on the crown and shared words of encouragement for the next representative. Kelulu Dawhuo’s win is being celebrated not only as a personal triumph but also as a proud achievement for Nagaland. As she prepares for the national competition, hopes are high that she will bring more glory to the state and inspire more young women to pursue their dreams in pageantry and beyond.
