A Kisan Mela cum Brainstorming Session on Dairy Sector Development took place in Nagaland at the ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun. The event gathered policymakers, scientists, dairy experts, and farmers to formulate a comprehensive strategy for advancing the dairy sector. Kudecho Khamo, the Chief Guest from the Government of Nagaland, emphasized the necessity of scientific practices, dairy cooperatives, and strong value chains to augment farmers’ incomes and achieve self-reliance in milk production. He praised ICAR and the Department of Animal Husbandry for their structured approach to dairy development. The session featured remarks from various officials, including senior scientists and the Deputy Commissioner of Phek, highlighting the importance of research and institutional support. The technical portion focused on the “Roadmap for Development of Dairy Sector in Nagaland,” with expert presentations on the sector’s overview, scientific farming, and value chain enhancement. It also included discussions from dairy cooperative leaders about challenges and prospects, culminating in a round-table discussion that circulated a draft roadmap for future development in the state.
