The Kohima District Road Safety Committee (KDRSC) held the Kohima District Road Safety Award–2026 ceremony at DPDB Hall, Kohima, on Monday, coinciding with National Road Safety Month. The event was moderated by Dr. Riku Khutso, EAC Kohima Sadar, with citations presented by Roben Mesen, RTO and Ex-Officio Member Secretary of KDRSC. Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem stressed the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and respecting authority, underscoring that public infrastructure should facilitate smooth traffic flow and not be misused for obstruction through construction waste or careless parking. He called on citizens to embrace their civic duties for the overall improvement of Kohima.
During the award presentation, MLA and Chairman of DPDB Kohima, Kevipodi Sophie, expressed satisfaction at the active participation of local organizations like Upper Jail Colony Panchayat, Jotsoma Youth Organization, Kezoma Village Council, and Naga Bazaar Youth Organization in aiding traffic management. He voiced optimism that more individuals and groups would collaborate with law enforcement to mitigate traffic issues in the district.
The award recipients for the Kohima District Road Safety Award–2026 included the aforementioned organizations and personnel from the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). Established by the KDRSC, the award recognizes contributions to road safety, with each award comprising a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with a citation.
