A bold step towards technological and entrepreneurial advancement in Northeast India was taken with the launch of 30 Entrepreneurship Development Centres (EDCs) and four Incubation Centres at the Northeast Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Conclave 2024. Led by Minister Jayant Chaudhary, this initiative is set to empower the region’s youth through innovative skill development and create 900 startups, reshaping the region’s economic landscape.
The conclave, held at IIM Shillong, gathered thought leaders and regional experts to discuss how traditional craftsmanship, such as bamboo and wood carving, can merge with cutting-edge technologies to meet modern market needs. Chaudhary stressed the importance of the “Act First for Northeast” policy, which aims to position the region as a critical player in India’s $5 trillion economy.
For the Kohima, this initiative could be a catalyst for innovation. Local entrepreneurs and artisans will gain access to new technologies, funding opportunities, and incubation programs, helping Kohima emerge as a growing hub for startups and technological solutions in the region.
