During the recent coordination meeting of the Peoples’ Democratic Alliance (PDA), Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, representing the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), reiterated the party’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the faith and identity of the Nagas. Rio threw his weight behind Chumben Murry, endorsing him as the epitome of Nagaland’s values and aspirations.
Addressing the assembled members, Rio took aim at the Congress party’s bid for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland, highlighting their lack of substantive legislative representation in the state. He criticized the Congress’s campaign tactics, accusing them of exploiting concerns over alleged anti-minority and anti-Christian actions by the BJP, dismissing these claims as mere propaganda.
In reaffirming the NDPP’s commitment, Rio pledged to champion the rights of minorities and advocate for the welfare of Christians within the state. Despite acknowledging Nagaland’s resource constraints, Rio stressed the importance of leveraging central government support to address persistent challenges, including the unresolved Naga political issue.
Commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Rio praised the Centre’s welfare policies and its pursuit of equitable development. He juxtaposed the BJP’s ambitious electoral agenda with the Congress’s diminishing political influence, urging voters to strategically elect Murry to ensure Nagaland’s representation within the majority coalition.
