Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday inaugurated the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex in Shamator district, marking an important milestone in strengthening the district’s administrative framework. The newly opened complex accommodates key government offices, including those of the Superintendent of Police, Information and Public Relations (IPR), Deputy Registrar Office (DYRO), District Planning Office (DPO), and Sericulture department.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister said the facility reflects the government’s dedication to advancing governance and enhancing the delivery of public services. He described the complex as a representation of progress and collective commitment towards better administration. The DC’s Office Complex was planned during 2022–23 after Shamator was officially declared a district in March 2022. Its completion is a significant step towards establishing a fully operational administrative setup, helping to address long-standing infrastructural gaps and improve overall efficiency at the district level.
The office is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening governance, ensuring easier access to government services, improving coordination among departments, and facilitating the timely execution of development schemes. It will also support functions related to revenue administration, law and order, disaster management, and promote balanced socio-economic growth while reducing administrative dependency.
Chief Minister Rio called upon all concerned stakeholders to jointly take responsibility for the proper use and upkeep of the facility. He expressed hope that the complex would serve as a hub of transparent, efficient, and citizen-focused governance, paving the way for sustainable development and a new chapter in Shamator’s administrative journey.
