As the 18th Lok Sabha General Election approaches, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) issues a fervent call to action, urging every voter across the state to actively engage in the democratic process by exercising their constitutional rights on polling day. Emphasizing that the right to vote is not merely a privilege but a fundamental human right, the NPCC underscores its pivotal role in shaping the governance and direction of the nation. Recognizing the paramount importance of ensuring free and fair elections, the NPCC takes proactive steps to educate and raise awareness among all communities. In this endeavor, the committee highlights key aspects of the electoral process to the general public: Utilization of ‘cVIGIL’ App: The Election Commission of India (ECI) introduces the ‘cVIGIL’ app, empowering citizens to promptly report electoral offenses and corrupt practices during the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Citizens are encouraged to download the app, register an account, and report any violations, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.
Combatting Booth Capturing: Vigilance against booth capturing, a severe electoral offense, is stressed. Citizens are urged to stay vigilant and report any such incidents promptly to the Election Authority, either through the ‘cVIGIL’ app or other means, to preserve democratic principles and the right to universal adult suffrage. Understanding EVMs: Given the potential confusion surrounding Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), particularly in rural areas, voters are reminded that the sequence of candidates on the ballot unit is not predetermined.
To ensure an accurate vote, voters are advised to identify their desired candidate’s party symbol on the EVM and press the corresponding button. Appeal to Local Authorities: The NPCC appeals to village councils, Gaon Buras (G.Bs), and all poll-related officials to uphold the integrity of the 18th Lok Sabha Election for Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency on April 19, 2024, ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
