Nagaland shares a long inter-state boundary of around 512 kilometres with Assam, covering several districts. Due to this, movement between the two states is frequent, especially for trade, work and daily travel. Polling for the 126-member Assam Assembly is scheduled to be held on April 9, while counting of votes will take place on May 4. In this period, authorities are maintaining strict vigil to prevent any violation of election norms.
