The 25th Hornbill Festival, a ten-day cultural extravaganza in Nagaland, is set to commence on December 1 at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. This landmark edition brings together global and national partners, including Wales, the US, Japan, Peru, Sikkim, and Telangana, reflecting its expanding cultural and economic significance. Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along highlighted the festival’s role in promoting Nagaland’s heritage, saying, “This milestone event showcases our vibrant traditions while fostering global partnerships through cultural exhibitions, business discussions, and tourism promotion.”
The event’s infrastructure has been upgraded with a Rs 100 crore investment, including a 5,000-seat prefab arena. Environmental sustainability remains central, with efforts to reduce plastic waste and encourage eco-friendly practices.The inaugural ceremony will feature dignitaries from partner countries, Governor La Ganesan as chief host, and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as host. The Hornbill Parade will merge with Kohima Night Bazaar for a grand celebration on December 7.
Music will play a pivotal role, with Indian and international artists performing nightly. Meanwhile, security has been enhanced with two-tier arrangements and strengthened border checkpoints to ensure a safe festival.
