Nagaland University selected as one of four NE incubation centers under Central govt initiative

Under a Central government initiative, Nagaland University, the state’s only Central university, has been selected to house one of the four incubation centers in the northeast, officials announced Monday. According to university officials, a business seed money grant of up to Rs 5 lakh would be given to the 50 best-performing recipients. The initiative titled “Establish, Develop, and Manage Entrepreneurship Development Centers and Incubation Centers in the Educational Institutes of the North Eastern Region” chose the college. The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, is carrying out this initiative, which is financed by the North Eastern Council (NEC), a regional planning organization with its headquarters in Shillong, the source said. The IIE is an organization under the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, while the NEC is the nodal agency for the economic and social development of the northeastern region, which includes the eight states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. The Kohima campus of Nagaland University has been selected as one of the four incubation centers in the northeast, the official said. A total of forty-four beneficiaries will be incubated by the initial group of incubators.

Of the 44 awardees, 16 are from Arunachal Pradesh, four are from Manipur, six are from Assam, and 18 are from Nagaland. The incubates would be onboarded in July 2025. As the only Central university in the state, Nagaland University has been chosen to host one of the four incubation centers in the northeastern area as part of a prominent Central government program, according to Vice-Chancellor Jagadish K. Patnaik. “The university’s dedication to academic achievement and nation-building via innovation, research, and inclusive development is reaffirmed by this opportunity. To ensure the success of this endeavor, we anticipate working together with partners from academia, business, and government,” he continued.
