NBCC stands firm on christian morality

In a statement addressing the evolving societal landscape, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) emphasizes its unwavering commitment to biblical teachings amidst modern challenges. Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, NBCC’s General Secretary, articulates the delicate balance between upholding Christian values and demonstrating compassion towards individuals with differing orientations. As contemporary society increasingly prioritizes personal happiness over spiritual integrity, the NBCC underscores the importance of maintaining God’s holiness as the ultimate standard. In a world where moral relativism prevails, the church reaffirms its stance against practices deemed incompatible with biblical principles, particularly LGBTQ+ lifestyles.

However, the NBCC advocates for a nuanced approach, urging love and understanding towards individuals while simultaneously upholding the sanctity of traditional marriage and biblical morality. Rejecting discriminatory judgments, the church emphasizes the distinction between loving the person and condemning the behavior, while also refraining from criminalization or stigmatization.

Rev. Dr. Keyho emphasizes the church’s responsibility to remain faithful to biblical teachings, even in the face of shifting societal norms. While acknowledging the challenges posed by changing definitions of morality, the NBCC asserts the primacy of biblical standards over temporal laws.
