NDPP-BJP alliance in Nagaland affirms unity and commitment amidst electoral setbacks

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has reassured that the alliance between the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) remains steadfast and resolute. His statement follows recent speculations of strains within the alliance after their joint candidate faced defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. In a joint statement released on Monday, both the NDPP and BJP reaffirmed the robustness of their partnership within the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) coalition. The statement, signed by NDPP Minister K.G. Kenye and BJP Minister Temjen Imna Along, aimed to dispel any misunderstandings about the stability of their alliance and underscored their collective commitment to the welfare of Nagaland’s citizens.

“The NDPP-BJP PDA coalition issues this joint statement to provide accurate information on the strength and unity of the PDA,” the statement read. “There has been misinformation and speculation surrounding the PDA, necessitating this clarification.”Acknowledging their defeat in the Lok Sabha elections with humility, the parties expressed respect for the people’s mandate. They emphasized that despite electoral setbacks, the alliance, which contested with a joint PDA candidate, gracefully accepted the election results, aligning with their governance objectives. Regarding the upcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections, the statement noted that the NDPP and BJP participated with mutual understandings and friendly contests in various areas.

They assured that these competitions have not affected their teamwork and dedication to serving the people.”The alliance between NDPP and BJP remains as strong as ever, and the PDA Government continues to function smoothly,” the statement affirmed. “The positive spirit of our alliance will persist, even as we form ULBs across the state with an inclusive approach. Both parties will work collectively with unity and team spirit.” Expressing gratitude to the electorate for their support in the ULB elections, the statement reiterated the coalition’s commitment to inclusive and just governance.
