Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (W/C, NNPG) has urged the establishment of a realistic timeline to resolve the long-standing Indo-Naga political issue, emphasizing that further delays exacerbate the difficulties faced by the people and hinder societal progress. In a statement after a joint consultation led by Gen. (Retd.) MB Neokpao, W/C reported that senior leaders from all associated groups analyzed critical issues affecting the Nagas and the evolving political dynamics of the region. Committed to finding an early and honorable solution, W/C aims for inclusive political engagement among Naga political groups and stakeholders to foster a united effort towards comprehensively resolving the Indo-Naga political issue.
Additionally, W/C expressed gratitude to former interlocutors and outgoing adviser (NE), MHA, AK Mishra, for his perseverance in upholding the peace process despite various challenges. W/C is optimistic that the new Government of India representative, Ajit Lal, will inject new energy into the ongoing discussions. The committee also congratulated the Eastern Naga People’s Organization (ENPO) for successfully finalizing the agreement with the Government of India regarding the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), hoping for equitable development and prosperity in the eastern region. It emphasized that this area, historically significant in the Naga movement, should focus its efforts on collectively achieving an early political settlement.
