On Women’s Equality Day, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Unveils New Strategies for Promoting Gender Equity

In anticipation of Women’s Equality Day on August 26, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is reaffirming its commitment to gender equality with a series of transformative initiatives. Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), TKM is making significant strides to build an inclusive and diverse workplace.

TKM has set an ambitious goal of increasing female representation in its workforce to 30% by 2030. A recent milestone in this journey was the induction of 160 new female employees and the successful capping of 55 women supervisors. These efforts have already raised the number of women at TKM to over 450, with a target to surpass 850 by the end of 2024. Supporting this drive are initiatives like the Gender Diversity Standard Operating Procedure Manual and extensive training programs designed to empower women across the organization.

TKM’s focus on gender diversity is also making waves in the Dimapur, where the company’s initiatives are seen as a beacon for local businesses. Entrepreneurs in Dimapur believe that TKM’s progressive policies could inspire regional industries to adopt similar practices, fostering a more inclusive business environment.“Gender equality is not just a goal but a catalyst for our growth,” said Mr. G. Shankara, Executive Vice President. “As we celebrate Women’s Equality Day, we remain dedicated to creating a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
