Security forces seize weapons in hill and valley areas

The anti-militancy operations in Manipur are being carried out more intensively, especially in fringe and vulnerable hill and valley districts, with security forces achieving major recoveries of arms and ammunition in these operations against the disturbing scenes of unrest and breakdown in the law-and-order situation.

During search operations in Leimaram, Bishnupur District, the security personnel found one cache of weapons. It included an SLR with a magazine, a.303 rifle, two live rounds of ammunition, seven HE-36 grenades, two tube launchers, a grenade arming ring, a walkie-talkie set with a charger, two stun grenades (tear smoke), and other random items.

One bolt-action rifle, one homemade projector launcher, eight live ammunition rounds, one homemade mortar, two live projectiles, one 12-inch live cartridge, and one ammunition pouch were found during another operation in Ekou Mulam, Kangpokpi District. The security forces’ stepped-up attempts to stop more bloodshed in the area are supported by these activities.

In addition to these recoveries, careful observation has also been kept on the flow of necessities. To guarantee their safe travel, up to 130 vehicles carrying necessities on NH-37 and 95 vehicles on NH-2 were accompanied. There are now more security personnel at risky areas, and security convoys are available along sensitive routes. Additionally, 100 Nakas have been established in several Manipur districts as part of bolstering the security system, and 166 people have been imprisoned for violating security.
