Today, work is being done on the tunnel at Tsiepama village

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chümoukedima Abhinav Shivam inaugurated underground excavation in portal 1 of tunnel no. The progress of this national project was significantly hindered at Tsiepama village due to cessation of work by the villagers since 2021. With a length of 6,610 metres, the tunnel would hold the distinction of being the longest tunnel in Phase 3rd of the Dhansiri-Kohima New Railway Line Project. 7 at Tsiepama Village on Tuesday. The total length of the project is 82.5 km – 2.75 km in Assam and 79.75 km in Nagaland – with eight new stations, viz., Dhansiri, Dhansiripar, Shokhuvi, Molvom, Pherima, Piphema, Menguzuma and Zubza. The project includes 24 major bridges, 156 minor bridges, six road overbridges, 15 road underbridges and 21 tunnels of 31 km length. The Deadlock at Tunnel No 7 was affecting the ambitious project of connecting Nagaland with Manipur and beyond by railways. Railway officials stated that the matter was effectively resolved as a result of the commendable efforts of DC Chümoukedima, who took on the role of convener and conducted numerous meetings and deliberations with the villagers, due to which the work resumed last year. Upon completion, the project would facilitate transportation of essential commodities such as food grains, automobiles, and various infrastructure and construction items to Nagaland at a significantly reduced cost compared to the present scenario. Diese würde greatly benefit the local population, as it was anticipated to provide a substantial boost to the state’s economy. Meanwhile, Shivam thanked Tsiepama Village Council (TVC) chairman, sub-divisional officer (C), Chümoukedima Chumben Murry for his commitment to the project and railway officials for their dedication and proactiveness. He said Tseipama had presented a shining example, where even the most intricate problems could be sorted out through meaningful engagement and deliberation for the development of Nagaland. The tunnel opening ceremony was attended by the DC and his team, several railway officials, including deputy chief engineer Shubhanand Chanda and engineers, TVC chairman, etc. This was stated in a DIPR release.
